I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word.” —Martin Luther King, Jr. Amidst poverty, criminalization, economic disparity, oppression, MISeducation, racial injustice/profiling, modern day enslavement, mental illness epidemic and policing distrust that shaped our CULTURE influencing generation after generation, we REFUSE to lower our voices it turn a blind eye to societal woes❗️ • • Sisters like @yandysmith , @tamikadmallory & @jamilatdavis are utilizing their platforms to shed light on injustices toward various demographics. Most recently, in conjunction with #OccupyForHumanity✊🏾, they gathered beside MOTHERS, FATHERS, DAUGHTERS, SISTERS, RAPPERS, REALITY STARS, ACTIVISTS, GOOD SAMARITANS, and innocent bystanders to EXPOSE the cruelty occurring at the Federal “MDC Brooklyn Detention Center”. The housed incarcerated individuals (majority black/brown) have been banging on their cells CONSECUTIVELY day after pleasing for aid. Some are reportedly extremely ill and freezing 🥶 because of an unaddressed power outage😫. The protesters “Rally To Ally” has brought attention to media which forced the mayor to take IMMEDIATE ACTION. There has been video displaying supply deliveries being dropped off at the detention center, and reports of heat and hot water restoration; BUt according to recent updates the PROBLEM hasn’t been resolved. Protesters are currently witnessing a continuous banging on cell doors and windows in despair. Will the inmates/family of inmates DESPERATION be a subject for CHANGE? Or cause more of an uproar⁉️Either way we have to continue to use our platforms for good despite the “” perception❗️ ______________________________________________Just to think my “Partner In Love 🥰 “ was housed in the exact location (for a NON-VIOLENT offense) enduring similar torturous conditions😟 The thought makes me appreciate his strength and endurance as a HUMAN BEING💯 Social media media isn’t about simply CURATING likes ♥️ Can you CURATE a change ⁉️ 🗣💭
